Abstract

There are several factors that affect the genital hygiene behavior of adolescents, including personal and family support. The purpose of this study to explain whether there is a relationship between personality type and family support in the genital hygiene behavior of adolescent. This research used correlation research method with cross-sectional approach. The samples of the study were 116 respondents using random sampling technique. The data analysis used descriptive analysis of chi-square correlation test. This study found that most respondents had good family support and extrovert personality types with the same score of 60.2%, and most of the respondents had clean behavior in genital hygiene, as much as 71.2%. The chi-square correlation test results obtained p value = 0.076, which means there is no relation between personality type and genital hygiene behavior in adolescent girls, while the correlation test of family support with genital hygiene behavior on adolescent girls obtained p value = 0,036 which means there is relationship in both personality type and family support. There is no relationship between personality type and genital hygiene behavior. Good family support can improve hygiene behavior of young women. The existence of good family support will affect adolescents in behaving. Keywords: personality type, family support, genital hygiene behavior, adolescent girl
