Abstract

Abstract Questionnaires were administered to 859 freshmen at the University of Florida to determine the nature and extent of their participation in high school and elementary school sports and the nature and extent of their play in extraclass sports during their freshman year in college. Statistical analysis was made of differences in play characteristics during the freshman year of students with varying types of interscholastic experience, of students who participated in specific types of interscholastic sports, and of students with different degrees of leadership and skill ability in interscholastic sports.
