Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1),carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT)and macrovascular complications in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The serum IGF-1 and CIMT levels were detected in 20 of healthy controls,20 cases of type 2 diabetes without complications and 20 cases of type 2 diabetic macroangiopathy. Results The serum IGF-1 level in type 2 diabetes was lower than that in healthy controls(P 〈 0. 05). The serum IGF-1 level in type 2 diabetic macroangiopathy was obviously lower than that in type 2 diabetes without complications (P 〈 0. 05). The CIMT in type 2 diabetic macroangiopathy patients significantly increased than that in healthy controls and type 2 diabetes without complications(P 〈 0. 05). Conclusions IGF-1 and CIMT is closely correlated with type 2 diabetic macroangiopathy. Key words: Diabetes; Macroangiopathy; Carotid intima-media thickness
