Abstract

Introduction: Hypospadias is a congenital anomaly of the anterior urethral opening of the penis, curved penis, and penile foreskin posterior to the penis. Hypospadias occurs in 0.4-8.2 out of 1000 babies. The aim of hypospadias surgery is to restructure the glans into a cone and straighten the penis into a slit calibre with a meatus at the top. The purpose of this research is to assess the association between the HOPE score in Hypospadias patients in Banjarmasin and the kind of hypospadias, age at surgery, NLR, and PLR. Methods: This research used a cross-sectional design and observational analysis. The sampling used in the study was all population members with a hypospadias diagnosis according to specific criteria and through sample approval. The analysis was univariate and bivariate with the Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests. The significant p-value was <0.05. Results: Thirty-eight patients diagnosed with hypospadias showed a relationship between hypospadias type and HOPE score with a p-value of 0.001, age at the surgery with a HOPE score p-value of 0.267, NLR with a HOPE score p-value of 0.896, and PLR with HOPE score p-value of 0.089. Conclusion: The variable associated with the HOPE score in patients with hypospadias is the type of hypospadias.
