Abstract

1. It was established on the basis of an experimental study of the conditions of unstable crack propagation during cyclic loading that, depending on the relation between Kifc and KID and the change in the reserve of elastic strain energy in the system during brittle crack propagation, the length of the crack jump is determined either by the size of the damaged zone at the crack tip or by the law of change in the ISF during the jump. 2. We demonstrated the possibility of using an approximate theoretical analysis to predict the law of change in the store of elastic strain energy of the system during a crack jump and the length of the jump during cyclic loading.
