Abstract

The study investigated the relationship between digital attitudes of librarians and provision of virtual library services in federal university libraries in South-Eastand South-South, Nigeria . A correlation research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 203 librarians in federal universities in South-East and South-South, Nigeria. A census sample design was used as the population was manageable. The instruments used for data collection was the questionnaire. Three research questions were answered and three null hypotheses were testedat 0.01 level of significance for the study. The Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient (PPMCC) was used to answer the research questions and test the hypotheses. The findings of the study indicated that there is high positive relationship between academic librarians’ digital attitude and provision of virtual library services. It also indicated a significant relationship between digital attitude of academic librarians’ and provision of virtual library services. The study recommended a continuous training and retraining of librariansto ensure a continuous development of skills necessary to operate in a virtual environment and to support positive attitude that will lead towards meeting up with the digital technological demands.
