Abstract

Correlative studies were made of the concentrations of albumin and lipids in the plasma of rats made nephrotic by injection of antikidney serum. It was found that the increased concentrations of plasma triglycerides, cholesterol and phospholipid in such rats were inversely correlated with the magnitude of their lowered plasma albumin content, rather than with the amount of antikidney serum that was injected. The results are consistent with the belief that a causal relationship exists between the deficiency of albumin and the increased lipid content of nephrotic plasma.
