Abstract

This paper makes a detailed study on the relationship between textural genetic types, physical-mechanical properties, diagenesis and deuterogenic action of carbonate rocks and the development of karst near Guilin. Simulating calculations of the main factors affecting the corrosional rate is carried out by using mathematical geological methods. A scanning electron microscopy of the corrosion test samples is made. The mechanism of the formation of gigantic caves and the steep peaks is proposed after making a comprehensive investigation on the corrosional features of main carbonate rocks, karstic topographic features and the caving degree of isolated peaks in Fenglin (peak forest) plain.
