Abstract

1. The depression in blood amylase, after the intravenous administration of glucagon, which occurs in patients without liver disease, is absent in subjects with hepatocellular damage, but it may occur in the absence of the pancreas. This appears to indicate that the liver is an important site of blood amylase level regulation.
