Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between apoliprotein E gene polymorphism and obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms was performed to determine the polymorphism of apoliprotein E gene in 84unrelated OSAHS subjects(OSAHS group)and 106 non-OSAHS subjects(healthy control group).Body mass index(BMI),Polysomnogram, the levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)were also analyzed. Results The frequency of ApoEe4 allele in OSAHS group was higher than that in(healthy control group)(P<0.01),AHI in OSAHS patients with ApoEe4 allele was higher than that in OSAHS patients with ApoEe3 allele(P<0.01).The level of TC in OSAHS patients with ApoEe4 allele was higher than that in OSAHS patients with ApoEe3 and ApoEe2 allele(P<0.01).The levels of TG and LDL-C in OSAHS group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group(P<0.05).Conclusions Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome might be relative with apoliprotein E gene polymorphism.OSAHS patients have disorder in blood lipids, and OSAHS patients with the allele e4 of ApoE have higher serum cholesterol. Key words: Obstructive sleep apnea hyponea syndrome; Apolipoprotein E; Gene; Polymorphism
