Abstract

AbstractThe effect of macroscopic orientation of liquid crystalline epoxy (LCE) resin, 4,4′‐di(2,3‐epoxypropenyloxy)phenyl benzoate, on the curing and liquid crystalline phase of LCE/diaminodiphenylester (DDE) mixture was investigated. Birefringence and curing rate of uniaxially aligned LCE/DDE on rubbed PI surface was compared with those of unaligned LCE/DDE. Anisotropic orientation accelerated the curing of LCE and facilitated the formation of liquid crystalline phase. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 102: 1712–1716, 2006
