Abstract

This work aims to analyze the radiation field inside the moon excited by a vertical magnetic dipole (VMD) located on or near the air-moon boundary. Based on the formulas, radiation fields are evaluated in the planar-, transition-, and spherical region. Meanwhile, various modes of reflection are taken into account, and the intensity of the primarily reflected waves is calculated numerically. Furthermore, some examples are considered to demonstrate the special properties of the respective field contribution. Computation shows that radiation field strengths vary strongly with propagation distance and angle. Moreover, the proposed formulas have applications to the moon interior exploration.
