Abstract
We show that the amplitude for N open and M closed strings on a disc may be written as a sum of amplitudes with N+2 M open strings, with appropriate orderings and phases. This form may be simplified using Plahte identities which relate open string amplitudes with different orderings. We demonstrate that these also hold for type I superstrings.
