Abstract

1. There is a correlation in the mean frequencies of discharge in adjacent neurons of the sub-esophageal ganglion ofHelix pomatia. 2. A hig probability of discharge of one cell in the mid-interval following discharge of the other is demonstrated. 3. With tactile stimulation this tendency to reciprocity is diminished and spikes occur in a more random relation to each other. 4. The phenomena described can be explained by the assumption that lateral inhibition takes place between pacemaker neurons possessing a common input.
