Abstract
Most of endometriomas with CA125 level over 1,000 IU/mL have related with rupture. This is important in differential diagnosis from malign ovarian disease. However, the mechanism of elevation of CA125 in patients with endometrioma is not clear. We reviewed elevation of CA125 level over 1,000 IU/mL in endometriomas and attempted to explore possible mechanisms of this elevation together with presentation of our current case. A review of the literature suggests that extremely elevated CA125 level combined with high CA19-9 level may indicate a recent rupture of endometrioma.
