Abstract

Objective To study the relation between the serum angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) and acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (AECOPD).Methods Using ELISA,serum concentration of Ang2 were measured in 50 patients with AECOPD,50 patients with stable COPD and 50 healthy control subjects. Results Serum Ang2 concentrations were (3 861.6 ± 273.8) ng/L in patients with AECOPD,(2 107.4±843.4) ng/L in patients with stable COPD and (1 645.7 ± 453.2) ng/L in healthy control subject.Serum Ang2 in patients with AECOPD were significantly higher in patients with AECOPD than both patients with stable COPD and healthy control subjects (P <0.01).Conclusions Serum Ang2 were significantly increased in AECOPD,and it might be a useful biomarker for this disease. Key words: Angiopoietin-2 ; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Biomarker
