Abstract

The correlation between night time values of spread- F indices, magnetic K-indices and h′ max F values for Kodaikanal are examined for a half solar cycle. Cross correlograms for spread- F indices and magnetic K-indices show that the variations of occurrence of spread- F echoes lag behind the variations of K-index by a period varying from zero in the sunspot maximum period to 5 days in the sunspot minimum period. A similar effect is observed between h′ max F variations and K-index variations but with lesser delay. A strong positive correlation is observed between spread- F indices and h′ max F values without any time lag throughout the half solar cycle.
