Abstract

An expression is introduced in general form for the rate of growth (solution) of a multicomponent phase, taking account of boundary motion and diffusional phenomena in the two phases. The diffusional fluxes are systematized for a two-component system. An improved formula for determining the diffusion coefficient by the rotating-disk method is established, together with the balance condition in the Stefan problem.
