Abstract

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), a betaherpesvirus, is ubiquitous in human population.Multiple HCMV gene products are expressed in malignant gliomas.Neural stem cells and glial cells are suscep-tible to HCMV.HCMV can induce malignant transformation and dysregulate key cellular pathways involved in host immune response, mutagenesis, cell cycle, apoptosis, and angio-genesis, and may be oncogenie in human.So, HCMV may play an active role in glioma genesis and development.
