Abstract

Summary Highly significant, linear relationships were found between acetone-extractable leaf chlorophyll and optical densities of leaves estimated using a portable chlorophyll meter for eight tropical and subtropical fruit-tree species. In situ estimation of leaf chlorophyll using the chlorophyll meter was considered convenient, fast and accurate. No significant differences in instrument performance of two chlorophyll meters were observed within their calibrated range.
