Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Cyclin D1,vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and non-metastasis 23 (nm23) protein in cholangio-carcinomas (ChC).Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to test the expression of Cyclin D1,VEGF and nm23 protein in 50 cases of ChC,30 cases of tissues adjacent to cholangiocarcinoma(TAC) and 20 cases of normal bile duct tissues(NBDT),and the clinicopathological factors were also analyzed. Results The positive rate of Cyclin D1,VEGF and nm23 in ChC was 68.0% (36/50),82.0% (41/50) and 54.0% (27/50),respectively.The expression of Cyclin D1,VEGF in ChC was higher than that in TAC and NBDT (P < 0.05).The positive rate of nm23 in ChC was lower than that in TAC and NBDT (P <0.05).The high level expression of Cyclin D1,VEGF and the low expression of nm23 were positively correlated with the TNM stage, differentiation degree and metastasis in ChC (P < 0.05).Conclusions Expression of tumor suppressor Cyclin D1,VEGF and nm23 gene protein can be reference index to assess the biological behavior and prognosis of ChC.
