Abstract
Postoperative cognitive dysfunction(POCD) is a common neurologic complication after major surgery.Although POCD has been concerned by professional surgeons, the exact etiology of POCD remains unclear.What′s more, many people confused delirium with POCD, but the definition, clinical manifestation and effect of delirium have been already identified by a precise kit of tests.However, there haven′t been any sound mechanism to evaluate POCD up till now, and it is difficult to identify disability by the dropping of cognitive function, which makes it hard to give a precise definition of POCD.The objective of this review was to summarize the relevant factors of POCD in ICU patients.
