Abstract
Thirty patients were examined, selected and individual impression made. After the impressions made, the casts were mounted in a special apparathus the Gnathothensiometer to measure the differences among three different centric relation techniques. Technique 1 - A bite rim, refined with zinc-oxide-eugenol. Technique 2 - A bite rim, refined with zinc-oxide-eugenol plus a jig. Technique 3 - A bite frame with gauze and zinc-oxide-eugenol. According to the measurements, the technique more accurate, for register the centric relations, seem to be the one using the frame of Jones (Technique nº 3).

Depois das impressões feitas os modelos foram montados em um aparelho especial, o Gnathothensiometer, para medir diferenças entre 3 diferentes registros de relação cêntrica. Existem poucos trabalhos na literatura odontológica relatando a coincidência de posições entre relação e oclusão cêntrica, entretanto, quando esta coincidência não é caracterizada, aparecem intervalos considerados normais em que as diferenças entre as duas posições tornam-se evidentes. Obviamente os profissionais de cada especialidade, não podem atribuir o sucesso total de cada procedimento a um registro interoclusal, mas obrigatoriamente “a escolha” e a padronização de um método de determinação do registro interoclusal reproduzível, tornam-se obrigatórios, como parte do sucesso de um tratamento nas referidas áreas acima. O presente trabalho representa um estudo comparativo entre 3 técnicas de registro de relação cêntrica, com os objetivos de verificar a existência de diferença entre posições alcançadas com cada técnica, avaliar a qualidade dos registros e prever uma técnica mais precisa para aplicação clínica
