Abstract

Abstract Relationship between aeropalynological flore and pollen spectrum in SW Spain (1989). - This work presents the results of aeropalynological studies carried out in three cities in the SW of the Iberian Peninsula (Cadiz, Huelva and Seville). These are situated in the Guadalquivir valley, which opens into the Atlantic forming a low coast of estuaries and marshes. The surrounding vegetation has been transformed by man over the years. The primitive Mediterranean forest has been partly substituted by agricultural plantations of annuals or perennials, among which have installed communities of invaders; repopulated areas; communities of nitrophilous weeds in the urban belts; wet regions colonized by pasture or by plants adapted to the salinity of the marsh soil; and leisure areas of the cities (parks and gardens).
