Abstract

Performance anxiety is one of the main problems that musicians, students and professionals, must face. Perfectionism is a construct associated with problems such as social phobia may be the performance anxiety. The association between perfectionism and performance anxiety has received special attention in the training field investigator and Spanish. Objectives: To study the presence of levels of performance anxiety in a sample of students from the Conservatory of Music of Alicante and how it relates to the perfectionism and grades obtained. Method: The study is quantitative data by selective sampling design for availability. The answers fall into two specific instruments measure of performance anxiety and perfectionism by 87 students from the Conservatory of Music of Alicante. Results: We found levels of performance anxiety somewhat higher than average. Performance anxiety is significantly related to perfectionism, and this with the grades of students. Conclusions: Perfectionism explains part of both the performance anxiety as the marks obtained by the students. More research on performance anxiety involving training in the future implement improvements necessary.
