Abstract

A comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach is required to study landscape archetypes as a subject of the historical cultural landscape research with an emphasis on the cultural heritage. The aim of the study is to reconstruct the historical landscape (settlement archetype of fortified house) at the confluence of the Vadičovský stream (called “Radoľský potok” – Radoľa stream in the Middle Ages) and the Kysuca River in the period from the 16th to the 18th century when the examined territory was natural or only insignificantly man-modified landscape. Fundamental analysis of historical sources followed by the field research using methodical procedures of various scientific disciplines was carried out during the reconstruction of the historical landscape relicts (settlement archetypes). The identification of anthropogenic relicts was interpreted on the basis of the preservation and the linkage of the detected objects to the landscape. A computer visualization of the historical landscape, its transformation and a 3D visualization of the landscape with fortified house, which became the main landscaping element in the historic landscape after the disappearance of the medieval church in Radoľa, was used.
