Abstract

High spin states in neutron-rich $^{147}\mathrm{Ce}$ have been reinvestigated by measuring the triple- and fourfold $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ coincidence data observed in the spontaneous fission of $^{252}\mathrm{Cf}$. The positive-parity band is expanded to spin (45/2) $\ensuremath{\hbar}$ and the negative-parity side band is expanded to spin (39/2) with a new third band connected to it. An octupole band structure with $s=+i$ was proposed. The systematic characteristics of the octupole correlations have been discussed. Reflection asymmetric shell model calculations for the octupole band structure of $^{147}\mathrm{Ce}$ are in good agreement with the experimental data.
