Abstract

ABSTRACT Facilities directors struggle to meet the demands on their operations—new construction, extended occupancy, and constant demand for energy conservation, to name a few. It is a classic case of “do more with less.” Strategic plans limited to incremental improvements and upgrades will never get ahead of the curve. So, how do facilities organizations make big advancements, regardless of what comes out of the equipment manufacturers, control companies, and existing software applications? They look inside their existing operations—at the data. Few organizations truly exploit the data that exist within their operations. When fully captured and utilized, data are the foundation for change—to optimize operations, transform the culture, and advance the business. This is not a simple task.
