Abstract

In post-tensioned concrete beams, the high concentrated compressive forces are transmitted to the concrete zones at the beam ends through the anchorage devices. As a result, they can burst and split if the concrete is not adequately reinforced. The paper determines the reinforcement in anchorage zones with axially loaded post-tensioned tendons using the linear elastic analysis method, which involves computing the state of stresses as linearly elastic, and the equilibrium-based plasticity approach method as strut-and-tie models to provide prestressing force paths as a truss structure. Some numerical models are also analyzed to clarify the present methods.
