Abstract

The article analyzes the effectiveness of government spending on the development of the Russian military-industrial complex and assesses the effect of reindustrialization policy on the competitiveness of the Russian economy. Methodologically, the research relies on a structural analysis of the Russian military-industrial complex based on statistics of federal budget expenditures on national defense and on expert assessment of government weapons programs. The article concludes that under current conditions, the policy of reindustrialization will hinder the economic development of the country and will continue the support of inefficient industries and sectors.
