Abstract

Canine kidneys have been preserved for twenty-four hours with the combination of hypothermia (2 to 4 °C.) and hyperbaric oxygenation (4ATA). However, it was necessary to delay contralateral nephrectomy for two weeks. Immediate contralateral nephrectomy resulted in no long-term survivors. Attempts to extend the period of preservation to forty-eight hours using this technic were unsuccessful.
