Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the research tendencies in the scientifi c studies contucted in the fi eld of Psychological Counseling and Guidance between the years 2007 and 2011. This is a descriptive study and in this context articles were analyzed by reviewing the documents. In the study, ULAKBIM database and 24 journals published in the fi eld of psychological counseling and guidance were included and 250 articles which had been published in these 24 journals were considered to be the sample of the study and they were analyzed. Each article was subjected to content analysis by using “Article Classifi cation Form”. In order to analyze the obtained data, content analysis method was used. According to the obtained data: an important number of the researches done in the fi eld of psychological counseling and guidance consisted of single or two authors and most of them descriptive studies based on investigation and analysis. It was found that questionnaires and scales were mainly used to data collection instruments and thus, research designs were mainly quantitative. It was also found that most of the sample of the studies composed of university students and the sample sizes were ranged between 300 and 1000. Finally, t-test and ANOVA were mainly used as data analysis method. Accordingly it can be inferred that utilization of qualitative studies and qualitative data analysis methods were quiet limited in the fi eld
