Abstract

India is a significant exporter of herbs and medicinal plants. People prefer using plants and herbs as medicine since they have fewer side effects and are used in big quantities. The 1940 and 1945 D&C Acts, AYUSH, and CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) all regulate the use of herbal remedies in India (amendment). Around 8000 herbal remedies have been grouped by AYUSH institutions in India. This chapter explores the regulation of herbal products in India.KeywordsAYUSHQuality council of IndiaGCPD&C ActClinical trials
