Abstract

The low luminosity limits the use of luminescent glass doped with rare earth ions as a luminescent material, and the matrix composition has a significant effect on the luminescent properties of the glass. Eu3+ ion-doped SiO2-B2O3-Gd2O3-Na2O-Al2O3 (SBGNA) glass was prepared by a high temperature melting method. The influence of the concentration of B2O3 and Al2O3 in the glass matrix on the luminescence properties of glass was studied. XPS tests indicate the presence of Eu3+ and Eu2+ in the glass. As the concentration of B2O3 and Al2O3 in the matrix increased, the luminosity of Eu3+ ions was the largest, while the luminosity of Eu2+ ions increased. The structural reason of this phenomenon was analyzed by infrared spectrum. By changing the composition of the glass substrate, the light emitting performance of the glass can be improved.
