Abstract

several years, the New York City Department of Health and the Department of Water Supply, Gas and Electricity have been studying the question of regulating the addition of chemicals to water supply systems in buildings. Many buildings in the city have been arranging with service agencies to treat the water in their buildings, to reduce corrosion of the piping systems. It was felt by the city departments that this work should be rigidly regulated, as there were definite possibilities of mistakes or accidents occurring, which might affect the quality or safety of the water supply in the buildings, or even in the city mains outside.
