Abstract

Hedge funds use primarily leverage (and not hedging). There were 5000 hedge funds in the United States in 2000, and only 250 in Europe. The assets of the hedge funds in the US are $ 1000 billions. The author thinks it would be a mistake to consider that hedge funds are unregulated. JEL Classifications : G23, G28
