Abstract

No one calls for totally free labour markets. There are good reasons for regulation. Most workers are dependent on their wage income, and working conditions are directly connected with living quality and safety. However, high and lasting unemployment in Europe is a clear sign that something is currently wrong with restricting competition in labour markets.
