Abstract
It is shown that the regulated reactive-power sources with biasing-controlled shunting reactors and capacitor banks applied in 110–500 kV networks make it possible to substantially lower the cost of electric power undersupply, reduce the volume of electrical network construction at the expense of maximal utilization of capacity of existing transmission lines, and improve the quality of consumer electricity supply. This application is a practical development of FACTS technology.
