Abstract

In a multi-user MIMO system, regularized channel inversion (RCI) precoding has the advantage of low-complexity. However, the regularization parameter is derived without considering the case of the non-homogeneous channels. In this paper, we focus on the scenario where the BS has a nonhomogeneous channel. We investigate the minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) problem, which can equivalently obtain the RCI precoder. Based on the MMSE problem, we improve the design of the RCI precoder. The numerical results show that the proposed design brings performance gain in sum-rate for non-homogeneous channels.
