Abstract

A regression approach to the calculated absolute calibration of spaceborne devices is proposed and compared with the standard method. Different types of measurements (meteorological, aerological, optical, radiation, etc.) can be used in this regression calibration. The accuracy of the absolute calculated calibration for a typical IR spaceborne radiometer, intended for determination of surface temperature, is analyzed. Errors of regression calculated calibration of the IR space radiometer depend on the amount and quality of the independent measurements of the atmospheric and surface parameters and on additional radiation (optical) measurements and range from 0.5 K to 1.0 K for the case under study.
