Abstract
<p>Population growth can encourage and hinder economic growth. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence gross domestic product (GDP) in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) using panel data regression. This study uses three independent variables, namely number of population, number of poor population, and investment, while the dependent variable is GDP. We use secondary data obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The results obtained from the regression analysis of the data series time panel are generalized least square (GLS), while for the cross section data panel shows the REM model is more suitable than PLS and FEM. Based on the validity test of the influence or t-test, the variable that shows significant to the economic rate which is categorized as GRDP in the Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta in 2011-2015 is the variable Total population and Investment which has a positive relationship.</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong><strong> : </strong>economic growth rate, panel data regression, gross regional domestic product</p>

Summary
Regresi data panel adalah kombinasi antara data silang tempat (cross section) dengan data runtun waktu (time series) [3]. Terdapat beberapa metode yang biasa digunakan dalam mengestimasi model regresi dengan data panel, diantaranya [4]: a. Metode analisis data panel dengan model random effect harus memenuhi persyaratan yaitu jumlah cross section harus lebih besar daripada jumlah variabel penelitian. Uji Chow adalah pengujian untuk menentukan model apakah common effect atau fixed effect yang paling tepat digunakan dalam mengestimasi data panel. Model yang tepat untuk regresi data panel adalah model fixed effect (ii) Tingkat signifikasi α : 5%. Uji Hausman Pengujian ini membandingkan model fixed effect dengan random effect dalam menentukan model yang terbaik untuk digunakan sebagai model regresi data panel [6]. Uji statistik F pada dasarnya menunjukkan apakah semua variabel bebas yang dimasukkan dalam model mempunyai pengaruh secara bersama-sama terhadap variabel terikat/dependen [8]. Penulis mendapatkan data dari website BPS DIY, pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan software Ms.excel dan R dimana Ms Excel untuk mengelompokkan data yang didapatkan dari BPS, sedangkan software R alat untuk menganalisis data yang sudah ada
