Abstract
Thrips are among the insects harmful to banana cultivation in Brazil, usually depreciating the external aspect of the fruits by the formation of spots or eruptions on their skin, as a result of their food. This work makes the first report of Frankliniella brevicaulis Hood (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in a commercial plantation of ‘banana comprida’ plantain (cv. D’Angola) in the state of Acre, Brazil. Due to the lack of information about the economic impacts and geographical distribution of this thrips species, research on this subject is strongly recommended in the State. Keywords: Amazon; Phytophagous insect; Terebrantia; Eruption thrips.
