Abstract

IntroductionThis report presents the IVF/ICSI Registry activity of the Spanish Society of Fertility during 2010 and 2011. Material and methodsA descriptive study was performed on the data registered from 103 Spanish centers during 2010, and 118 from 2011. An analysis was made of IVF/ICSI cycles with own eggs (32.503 in 2010, and 36.766 in 2011), IVF/ICSI cycles with egg received from egg donation (7.749 in 2010, and 9.162 in 2011), frozen embryo replacement cycles (13.472 in 2010, and 17.027 in 2011), pre-implantation genetic diagnosis/screening (PGD) cycles (2.719 in 2010, and 2.612 in 2011), cryopreserved oocytes cycles (1.799 in 2010, and 5.612 in 2011). ResultsA total of 9,487 clinical pregnancies were reported in 2010 with IVF own eggs treatment, and 10.501 in 2011 (38.3% and 37,8% pregnancy rate per embryo transfer, respectively), leading to 25% multiple pregnancies in 2010, and 23.7% in 2011. Egg donation cycles accounted for 3,944 (54.9%) pregnancies from a total of 7,187 fresh embryo transfers in 2010, and 4.521 (53.2%) from 8,495 in 2011, leading to 31.7% multiple pregnancies in 2010, and 29.8% in 2011. In 2010, 543 pregnancies were obtained from 2,328 egg collections by PGD treatment, and 562 from 2,553 in 2011. ConclusionsThe SEF registry includes the great majority of the IVF cycles performed in Spain during 2010 and 2011. Pregnancy rates are reassuring, but there is a lack in data concerning the outcome of the pregnancies. The multiple pregnancy rate is still high. The data show a significant increase in the number of cycles with cryopreserved oocytes during 2010 and 2011.
