Abstract

The Black Vulture Coragyps atratus is a bird of the Cathartidae family, that is restricted to the American continent. The birds of this family are well known for their habit of feeding on decomposing meat. However, this behavior does not inhibit them from having some behavioral plasticity, exploring other food resources available in an environment. In the present study, we recorded a Coragyps atratus performing fishing behavior, being perhaps the first record of this behavior in Cathartidae in Brazil. Keywords: behavior plasticity; Cathartidae; feeding behavior.
