Abstract

‘FF 9615’ (Reg. No. CV‐34, PI 674737) is a medium diploid (2n = 2x = 14) red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) cultivar selected for increased biomass yield and persistence in Wisconsin and adapted to temperate cool humid regions of the United States. FF 9615 was developed and jointly released by the US Dairy Forage Research Center (USDA–ARS) and Allied Seed LLC. It was developed using halfsib progeny testing and is a 144‐parent synthetic constituted from mating 24 plants each of six superior halfsib families grown from remnant seed. FF 9615 has superior biomass yield and persistence in third‐ and fourth‐year stands compared with ‘Marathon’ and ‘Cinnamon Plus’. FF 9615 also has a darker, more desirable green foliage color compared with Cinnamon Plus and ‘Freedom!MR’. In addition, FF 9615 has a higher incidence of no‐leaf‐mark plants (38.1%) compared with Cinnamon Plus (21.1%) and Freedom!MR (27.1%).
