Registrar touches every aspect of a community college population's needs

Abstract

Having a role in each student's academic experience, from the details of the admissions process all the way through the exhilaration of graduation, motivates Sara Schumacher in her role as Registrar at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, North Carolina. No two interactions with students are exactly alike, said Schumacher, and the diversity of student needs in the community college population often has had her taking on advising roles during her career, even when that was not strictly part of her job description.
