Abstract

Security is great challenge of the future distribution systems with th e integration of different types of distribute d generators (DGs), energy storage and electric vehicles. It is difficult to improve the operating efficiency under high security requirements, especially N-1 criterion. This paper presents a novel reconfiguration (NR) model for distribution network both taking N-1 security and efficiency (network loss reduction) into account. The security region theory of distribution systems (DSSR) is used in NR model to quantify security. The NR is formulated by using the minimum network loss as objective and the N-1 security margin as constraints. Particularly, the security margin constraints can be customized individually for each feeder, yielding proper compromises between security-related and efficient concerns. Different results for variety of security and efficiency needs are tested on an extended IEEE-RBTS test system.
