Abstract

The Hungarian Association of Sociology (MSZT) held its annual assembly and conference on 10-11 November 2000 in Hodmezovasarhely under the the title Regionalism and Locality in the Twenty-First Century. The Association held its meeting for the first time in a town which is not the capital of a county. This is why the choice of Hodmezovasarhely matches the title of conference well, since it can, nevertheless, be considered an important regional centre. The annual assembly meeting and the conference were on the agenda of the first day, whereas the section meetings of the MSZT were held on the second. The events were held at three venues, the opening function and the first presentations were at Hotel Fekete Sas, in the emblematic building of Hodmezovasarhely, the assembly and the conference were housed in the ceremonial hall of the Mayor's Office, and the section meetings of the next day took place in Hostel Cseresnyes.
