Abstract
In academic world, quality assurance has two dimensions in its application; first, it is a holistic assessment of any program and secondly, it has implications for uniformity and shared opportunities for admission, equivalence, and employability of graduates. The first part is critical as no implication is conceivable without a viable evaluation of programs. Some established measures for evaluation are expressed in the form of accreditation standards, criteria, mechanics, and management. This chapter is focused on both the aspects. One limitation exercised is that it only covers one section of Middle East, which is also identified as Western Asia, Arabian Peninsula, or Arabian Gulf. We have opted to use the term Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations as it is an established, bona fide, and strictly defined term. GCC nations are distinctly different from the rest of the Middle Eastern nations in terms of geography, economy, political setups, and cultural identity. First, it is relevant that we are familiar with this context.
