Abstract

This chapter discusses the policing of art crime in the European Union. It builds on Block’s (Policing art crime in the European Union. In: S. Hufnagel & D. Chappell (Eds.), Contemporary perspectives on the detection, investigation and prosecution of art crime. Ashgate, Farnham, pp. 187–205, 2014) article and extensively discusses the combating of art and heritage crime by various police forces within the EU. The focus of this chapter is on (trans)national policy and it discusses the importance of macro-level operating organisations such as Interpol, Europol and CEPOL.
